Athena Begin
The 24-month project “Athena Begin: European Cooperation Against Domestic Violence towards People with Intellectual Dissabilities” is funded by the EU Rights, Equality and Citizenship Programme (REC) and lasts from December 1st, 2019 to December 1st, 2021. It addresses the vulnerability of people with disabilities to become victims of abuse, domestic violence and gender-based violence (DV/G-BV) in particular.
By offering resources and tools to professionals, the aim is to empower the victims themselves, in order to improve their quality of life through skills and abilities development. These tools will enable professionals to identify hidden realities and thus tackle them, by minimizing any secondary victimization that these people may deal with, during the process.
The partnership consists of five organizations coming from Spain, Greece and Portugal.
From Spain:
- Asociación Tutelar Aragonesa de Discapacidados Intelectuales - Atades (coordinator)
- Fundación Carmen Pardo-Valcarce (Colegio de Educación Especial Niño Jesús del Remedio)
