Ippokratis I Boarding Home

Ippokratis I has been operating since 27th January 2003. It was founded under law 2716/99 and formed part of ‘Health-Welfare’ Operational Program 2000-2006 of ‘Psychargos Phase B’ Program for the de-institutionalization and socio-economic rehabilitation of mentally impaired people.

The boarding home is a community unit that serves both as an intermediary and an alternative approach to the support for and psychosocial rehabilitation of adults with intellectual challenges and secondary mental disorders. It houses 15 persons who have been rehabilitated through ‘Psychargos’ de-institutionalization program.

It is our objective to ensure that residents continue to fully participate in all areas of social life and develop personal relationships with the local community.

Our tools are:

  • Daily living and social skills training
  • Psychological support for the residents and their families
  • Pre-vocational awareness and occupation
  • Leisure time activities
  • Constant evaluation of activities
  • Research activities
  • Physiotherapy and speech therapy
  • Educational activities

The program is carried out by specialized personnel forming a multidisciplinary therapeutic team:

  • Scientific Director
  • Project Manager
  • Psychiatrist
  • Psychologist
  • Social Worker
  • Occupational Therapist
  • Charge nurse
  • Nursing staff
  • General duties staff

Our primary concern is to constantly improve individuals’ performance in coping with daily living challenges, secure that they remain participating members of society and assist them in fostering meaningful personal relationships with the local community.
